Well, it is a cool, wet, winter day in Atlanta. The picture is from a recent trip to the Bahamas when it was also cool and wet. I decided this weekend to spend some time with the wife instead of diving. I know many divers may find that blasphemous but there you go.

I am in the beginning stages of actually planning my trip to Rock Lake, Wisconsin for a cold water dive trip. Of course most will wonder why the heck I would go to Rock Lake, Wisconsin to dive when for the same cost or less I could go to Florida or even back to the Bahamas. It seems there are Indian ruins on the bottom of Rock Lake and I would love to see them (even if to the unknowing eye they look like a pile of rocks). So I have been honing my skills here in Lake Lanier in preparation for a trip to Rock Lake.

In my dive writing section you can see a piece on Lake Diving I wrote about the trials and tribulations of diving under the less than ideal conditions of lakes and quarries. While you don't have to deal with sharks, jelly fish or other hazards of tropical diving, you do need to concern yourself with entanglement, cols water and low visibility. So, all-in-all most lake diving will involve a bit of a different tool set than diving in clear ocean water.

I hope to show how I used a high definition satellite photo to determine underwater features and translated that to a set of GPS coordinates which I then dove on and found something. Should be fun! I hope to write an article that actually gets published about the trip. If the article doesn't get officially published, I will of course post it here for all to read.

Well, I must sign off now and spend some time with the wife.

Go out and get wet!
